POWELL, WYOMING 鈥 The Native Ways student club at 榴莲直播 will be hosting the 29th Annual Buffalo Feast on Thursday, November 20, at 6:00 p.m. in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center. The feast includes braised bison short ribs, Three Sisters soup, seasonal roasted vegetables, roasted beet salad with goat cheese mousse, and berry soup.

This year鈥檚 featured speaker is Mariah Gladstone, Piikuni (Blackfeet) and Tsalagi (Cherokee), who grew up in northwest Montana. A graduate of Columbia University where she earned her degree in Environmental Engineering, Gladstone returned to Montana to begin her work with food advocacy. Her passion is revitalizing knowledge of traditional food systems and increasing access to healthy, culturally relevant foods. In 2016 she launched Indigikitchen, a web-based cooking show designed to teach viewers to prepare modern, healthy meals using traditional indigenous ingredients.

Gladstone deepened her interdisciplinary approach to food systems by earning a master鈥檚 degree in Coupled Natural and Human Systems from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 2021. She now works to promote healthy, fresh foods people can feed their families using the modern kitchen while using digital media to share that information.

Gladstone鈥檚 work has earned her numerous accolades, including a 鈥淐hampion for Change鈥 through the Center for Native American Youth, a 鈥淐ulture of Health Leader鈥 through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and a Grist 50 鈥淔ixer.鈥 She currently serves on the board of the Native Youth Food Sovereignty Alliance (NYFSA), and in 2020 was selected as an MIT Solve Indigenous Communities fellow. She has also been featured on the Today show, and her latest project is the recently published children鈥檚 cookbook, Mountains to Oceans: Kids鈥 Recipes from Native Land.

Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for children 12 and under, and $10 for NWC students. Those who wish to attend the event are encouraged to reserve tickets no later than November 13.
